Video Premiere: Shirley & The Pyramids - More Than The Sun

Saskatoon based band Shirley & The Pyramids is the brainchild of Aron Zacharias (Wizards, Chunder Buffet). They play psychedelic garage infused with bedroom pop. The hazy sound is often compared to Jesus & The Mary Chain but perhaps folks draw more comparison from the similar band names than the sound. They are an exciting force within Saskatoon's impressive music scene and will be releasing their sophomore album, Pure Pain, on June 15th through Grey Records.

The video to their advance single "More Than The Sun" was directed by Zacharias using using public domain footage and personal film shot in Victoria, BC. The song is about attempting to escape through vacation and realizing people across the globe encounter difficult obstacles as well. The video captures the feel perfectly with it's hazy, lo-fi images of landscapes, transportation and people shot with a slightly ominous undertone.
