Video Premiere: Dark Time - Pride In Prey

Dark Time is the project of Calgary artist, Cayley O'Neill. In 2021 she dropped a fantastic EP called Radiation that weaves together synth-pop, psych, and art-rock into a truly unique listening experience… one that would end up landing on our “Best EPs of 2021” list with Cups N Cakes team member Shaun Lee saying:

“What a delightfully trippy, (and tough to pin down), sophomore effort from Cayley O’Neill (Self-Cut Bangs). There’s something inscrutable about this strange little gem, and when the time came to put together my end of year collection, this one stuck out as one of the more unique efforts to come from my hometown.”

Today we are very excited to premiere a new music video for the final track of the EP, “Pride In Prey.” The video was created at the beginning of the pandemic by Claudia Tomczyk and features lead singer Cayley O'Neill performing to wind turbines in a prairie field. Much like the music, the video is spacious and psychedelic. Strobing desert flowers, inverted colours and soundwaves takeover O'Neill's performance alongside a cacophony of sound. O'Neill is left alone in the field, with stars as her witness.
