The Essentials - Part One: Constantines

Welcome to Part One of The Essentials limited series. On each episode of this mini series, Cups N Cakes founder, Jeff MacCallum, will take a deep dive into the history of an independent act that he feels is absolutely essential to the music landscape of this country. For the first show, he looks at the history of Ontario’s Constantines. 

A band that should need no introduction, The Constantines were active from 1999-2010. They had a brief hiatus then returned in 2014 to play a bunch of shows across North America. The band was comprised of Bry Webb on vocals and guitar, Steven Lambke on vocals and guitar, Dallas Wehrle on bass, Doug MacGregor on drums and Will Kidman on keys. They were the epitome of rock perfection during their tenure and their four albums are just a relevant today as they were upon their release.

For Part One of this series, Jeff is joined by Steven Lambke to discuss the bands formation, relationship with their labels, the 2014 reunion, and potential future. In between all that, they go over all four Constantines albums and pick one track each from them to play on the show.
