089 - Matthew Cardinal

On this episode of Inside the Artist’s Studio, Sean talks to Edmonton-based electronic composer, Mathew Cardinal. Mathew put out his first record, Asterisms, in October of 2020, through Arts & Crafts. The record plays like an audio journal, with each song simply titled after the day that it was recorded. Sean and Mathew talk about the improvised, spur of the moment nature of the recordings, building sounds with modular synthesizer, and about the unique beauty of Edmonton’s best nightlife spot, Steel Wheels.
