Daniel Monkman, the mastermind behind Zoon, joins Sean on this episode of “Inside the Artist’s Studio” to talk about his Polaris Prize shortlisted record Bleached Wavves. They talk about Daniel’s upbringing in Selkirk, Manitoba, and about how finding a Beck CD in a thrift store as a kid got Daniel thinking that he could be a professional songwriter. This episode dives into some heavy topics, as Sean and Daniel talk about small town cycles of poverty, addiction, and violence. At the end, Daniel talks about some exciting collaborations that he’s been working on since releasing Bleached Wavves, and when we can expect to hear some new music from him.
