Video Premiere: Groan Boy - Blank Bust

Beneath the Broadcast is an upcoming film that captures the experience of living and creating art in the Yukon. Shot in the basement of the CBC North building, the film features nine live performances from an eclectic assortment of the Yukon’s most talented acts. The project was created by Yukon-based organizations Something ShowsBig Boat Records and local filmmaker Brendan Preston. Leading up to the release of Beneath the Broadcast, a different Canadian music media site has been asked to premiere one of each of the nine videos. The Cups N Cakes Network is humbled and honoured to be able to share with you the video from Groan Boy.

Groan Boy’s music is haunting. He layers his chilling guitar with effects and delay to create a wall of sound that is eerie enough to make hair stand on end. Armed with a sound that can go from haunting to deafening on the occasions in which he’s joined by pals to add drums, bass, and organ to the sonic palate; Groan Boy creates a vivd musical interpretation of the vast darkness and isolation experienced during a Yukon winter.
