Video Premiere: Wishkicker - "Oh No"
Vancouver’s Kyle Schick started his solo project as Wishkicker with a bang. He burst onto the Canadian music scene in 2016 with two EPs that were well received and helped earn him opening slots for high profile acts: Parquet Courts and Har Mar Superstar. The momentum continued with three songs appearing in the Netflix Original Series: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and a cameo by Wishkicker himself.
Fast forward to 2020 and Schick has reinvested in Wishkicker by making it his main project. The year will see him release two self-produced singles. The first, “Another Undaunted Dawn,” came out at the start of September and today, the Cups N Cakes Network is ecstatic to get the chance to premiere the second.
The track is called “Oh No” and Schick had this to say about it:
“Oh No is mainly about decay, watching something fall apart in front of you and knowing there isn’t much you can do about it. It came together during a very transitional period in my life where I really wasn’t sure about the steps I was taking. For most of the music I’ve been writing lately I’d really fallen out of love with playing my guitar, I think playing the solo on this track was something I needed to do to show myself I was still capable of doing something exciting with the instrument.”
