Single Premiere: Gus Davidson - "Wash Cycle"
Saskatoon’s Gus Davidson is prepping his debut album for release in June 2020 digitally and on cassette via Pop Quiz records, a label and collective that has been supporting electronic and experimental music in the prairies since 2005. The album’s nine instrumental tracks are comprised of intricate compositions and edited improvisations. Some of the tracks are among Gus’ latest works, while others have been waiting years for official release. The album was recorded and mixed at home using a modest collection of equipment including synths, a drum machine, a sampler, and effects pedals meant for guitar.
We first introduced you to Gus’ electronic stylings back in April when we premiered the first single from his forthcoming album. Today we are happy to say that we, once again, get the honour of premiering a single from this up and comer.
“Wash Cycle” boast warm, guiding synth chords that will draw you in and calm you down. Featuring synth improvisations, this track was recorded in Gus’ bedroom. Perhaps this is why the song is comforting, what is more relaxing than ones own room?
From the press release:
“Wash Cycle plays like a self-care anthem for anxious times in 2020.”
We couldn’t agree more.
