Single Premiere: Funeral Lakes - "Eternal Return"

Former Vancouver duo, Funeral Lakes are preparing a follow up to their wildly lauded 2019 self-titled EP. The new release is an EP called Golden Season and is expected to drop in June. Today the Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to be premiering the first single from the new effort. “Eternal Return” continues the protest approach we’ve come to expect from Funeral Lakes by touching on the intersection between politics, toxic masculinity, colonialism, and the destruction of the natural world. 

There’s a lot to digest in this track but this bands true gift is playing protest music that gently offers up suggestive ideas for a different path without beating the listener over the head. They don’t scream at their audience, they reason with them. Their message is delivered with a calming presence that would make any human willing to listen before forming opinions.
