CnC's 6 Year Anniversary Cancelled

Yup.

It was bound to happen… ok… it actually happened over a month ago but we are just now getting around to announcing that the Cups N Cakes Six Year Anniversary concert is cancelled.

We never even got the chance to announce the show itself! We were just about to reveal the big party when the Coronavirus Pandemic took hold of Canada. So why announce it now? That’s simple, we did a lot of work to put something special together with some bands we really wanted share with our Edmonton faithful. So… how great was the evening going to be?… Well… we were scheduled to have Jordan Klassen headline with his backing band, The Tourist Company playing a set as well as a local act that had yet to be determined. (We were planning on pursuing The Den).

It would have been a grand time. Cups N Cakes founder, Jeff MacCallum had been working hard with Craig Martell of RecRoom to curate a special night that is no longer a go. That being said, this article isn’t being written to whine, it’s being written to urge you, dear readers, to check out the wonderful acts we were hoping to present in two weeks time.

First, check out the fourth single from Jordan Klassen’s forthcoming album. The record is called Tell Me What To Do and will arrive on May 22nd. Look for the Cups N Cakes Network to feature it a “Pick Of The Week”. Klassen is one of Canada’s most talented indie-folk acts. Being able to secure him for our party was a huge achievement. Maybe that’s why we felt the need to write this article… to brag.

Secondly, enjoy an offering from The Tourist Company. The members of this band serve as Klassen’s backing band. When we checked them out as an option to book, we jumped at the opportunity.

Finally, we had yet to contact or confirm Edmonton band The Den (reading this will be as much news to them, as it is to you), but we were planning on pursuing them to be the Oreo filling on the evening. They’ve released a couple singles this year that are/were leading up to a release (one was premiered by CnC). They would have been perfect for the bill.
