Premiere: Fortunato Durutti Marinetti - Memory’s Fool
We first came upon the music of Daniel Colussi in 2018 when he was based in Winnipeg and making music under the name The Pinc Lincolns. Little did we know, his 2018 album that caught our attention (On The Plain) would be his last under that moniker. After move to Toronto and a name change to Fortunato Durutti Marinetti, we were treated to a fantastic album called Desire that featured some Canadian heavy hitters in Jay Arner, Jessica Delisle (Energy Slime), Nicolas Bragg (Destroyer), and more. The album was featured as a “Pick Of The Week” and had us excited to hear more from Colussi’s new direction.
Today, we are very excited to report that Fortunato Durutti Marinetti’s sophomore album called Memory’s Fool is scheduled to arrive on March 18th, 2022 through Bobo Integral Records and Soft Abuse Records. The album moves Marinetti further then ever from his indie-rock roots as he channels the explorative spirit of 1970s songwriters like Lou Reed, Robert Wyatt and Joni Mitchell. He took a “lyrics first” approach then assembled a band of incredible Canadian musicians to craft a jazz rock sound that was befitting his poetic approach to this release. He once again brought in Jay Arner and Jessica Delisle to craft his band but also reached out and found help from violinist Josh Zubot and underground Canadian music icon Sandro Perri who also mixed and mastered the album.
Today we are so excited to announce the album but even more pleased to deliver you a brand new song called “Memory’s Fool”. We are told that although this is the title track from the album, it won’t actually appear on the record. Kind of a fun idea.
