Video Premiere: Daveband - Lemonade
Last year we had the privilege of introducing a large portion of Canada to Halifax act, Daveband. We instantly fell in love with the fun, power-pop found within their debut album, This Was Your Dad at 28. The album was featured as a “Pick Of The Week” and the single “Lemonade” spent a healthy amount of time on our Top 40 Spotify playlist.
Today we are very excited to circle back to that fantastic anthem about making the best of being laid-off with a premiere of its music video. The video arrives with a fantastic announcement of the albums release tour (the originally planned release tour was cancelled due to the pandemic) and also the release plans of a vinyl version of the album.
We caught up with Daveband’s frontman and principal songwriter David Archibald to ask about the video that was filmed in Chicago in the summer of 2019:
”I was travelling there for an ultimate frisbee tournament and had the chance to tack on a couple extra days to tour around and see the sites. A friend I was travelling with helped get cellphone footage of us touring around and goofing off. It was supposed to capture the fun, summery, carpe diem kinda vibes I spoke to in the song. It's an interesting document to look at now given the context of what's happened to international travel in the past two years.”
