Premiere: CALICO - Don't You Stray
CALICO are a roots/rock group split between Vancouver & Victoria, BC. Their debut album, Under A Sudden Sun, caught our attention last when it was released in August. The release featured classic folk vibes with a roots/rock vibe that occasionally frolicked with classic country sounds. Truly a great debut from this up & coming act that should be on the radar of every Folk Fest in the country.
Today we are excited to be premiering a new single called “Don’t You Stray” which will be on their forthcoming sophomore album, A Midnight Moon, set for release in early 2023.
The track was written on a winter day in Squamish, BC, with the tranquil yet uplifting energy of the natural world seeping into the feel of the song. Lyrically, “Don’t You Stray” deals with the importance of love and how community allows us to soar. We caught up with front person, Tony Cecchetti, to learn more:
"Don’t You Stray'' is a song written about family. It is about keeping those we cherish close to us and treasuring our time, sinking into love and remembering the privilege and good fortune of having it in our lives. We deserve to love and to be loved"
