Premiere: Co-op - Magic Eraser
The Cups N Cakes Network stumbled into Co-op’s music in early 2020 after hearing their incredible third release, simply titled III. This Vancouver trio’s late 2019 album was unfortunately lost in limbo, it was too old for us to cover at the time and the calendar year had already turned over so we couldn’t even put in on our list of 2019 albums that “Slipped Through The Cracks” (make sure to come back on Friday when we release the 2022 version of that list). All we knew was that we loved their sound. III had the fuzzy, ear-piercing, treble tones of a Women record but the melodies were more akin to early Protomartyr. It ended up on heavy rotation at the Cups N Cakes headquarters and we began the waiting game for their next album to emerge.
Today we are very excited to report that the follow up to III will arrive on December 2nd. The album is called Reward System and it builds on the sonic profile of previous releases, venturing further into layered arrangements with synthesizers, electronic drums, auxiliary percussion, and layers of samples.
Today we are excited to share the albums first single, “Magic Eraser” which features artwork which was taken from an upcoming animated music video by bassist & visual artist Liam Shiveral.
Enjoy the single below and head over to Co-op’s Bandcamp page to pre-order Reward System and purchase past releases.
