Video Premiere: Axis Decade - Front Page Challenge

Axis Decade is the latest project from Callen Diederichs, who has been prowling the fringes of the Saskatoon music scene since the '80s, playing in a variety of bands and situations. This new endeavour was born while touring with Montreal/Saskatoon psych-folk phenomenon Dumb Angel, wherein he teamed up with bassist Devin McAdam and drummer Tyler Smeding to record his debut album, Half Full of Empty.

Today the Cups N Cakes Network is very excited to premiere the video for the albums lead off track, “Front Page Challenge.” The song is sung from the perspective of an aging movie star whose musings become increasingly chaotic after going off her medication. The music mirrors her journey as it moves from plaintive dream pop to determined new wave to eventual avant-garage chaos. 

The video was directed by Jacob Farrell (for Dorothy Studios), and depicts three strangers stuck in dead-end jobs who are inspired to run off and form a small utopian community of kindred spirits.
