Premiere: k.burwash - Holding Air
k.burwash is the operational alias of electronic ambient artist Kris Burwash, (formerly of No Hands, Lontananza, and The Marshall Plan). The moniker was adopted after a musical hiatus while focusing on starting a family and discovering modular synthesizers. He’s released three albums now with his most recent, Mutualisms, being the most played album of 2021 at CJSR, the campus station in his hometown of Edmonton.
Today we are very excited to announce that the fourth album from k.burwash, Holding Air, will be arriving on April 8th through Amsterdam based label, Shimmering Moods Records. It will be released on cassette and CD with pre-orders opening up on April 1st (psssst!!!!! That’s Bandcamp Friday!!!).
We recently caught up with Burwash to ask about the new album:
“I can’t really say I wrote these pieces… I can’t say they were written at all. I’ve found a system that does not assist in writing, but functions quite the opposite, yet with similar outcomes. Each piece, using notes, melodies, emotions, memories, is generated and yet simultaneously eroded, rearranged, reorganized, providing a result which drifts and echoes recalling forgotten places, lost times through a cracked lens. A system that takes sounds, ideas, thoughts and transforms them, ‘de-composes’ them into pieces that come alive, that hold air.”
Today we are very excited to share the title track in the form of a self produced video. Enjoy!
