Premiere: Layten Kramer - Why Am I So Tired

Hot off the heels of his fantastic 2021 album, Dear Apathy, Canmore, Alberta’s Layten Kramer returns with a new single called “Why Am I So Tired”.

For those new to Layten Kramer, don’t sweat it… the Cups N Cakes team was late to discover his incredible talents as well. When we first heard Dear Apathy, it was already out for months and it was by no means the debut of Kramer’s fantastic psychedelic-pop sound. With releases going all the way back to 2014, Kramer has been perfecting his craft and building a healthy following in the process. Cups N Cakes named Dear Apathy to our Honourable Mention list of the Best Albums of 2021. Here’s what we said:

“Another one we were a little late to discover but it’s been in constant rotation ever since. Dear Apathy is a modern reimagining of the psychedelic perfection that was explored in the 60s.”

Today, Layten Kramer delivers his first single since the release of Dear Apathy. The single is the first in a collection of new songs with France label Nice Guys Records. It’s a downtempo, folksier take on Kramer’s sound with fantastic pedal steel courtesy of Marc Jenkins helping make the track soar. It‘s being released today with the help of an animated video from the extremely talented Amery Sandford who is becoming the go-to animator for Canadian indie music videos.
