Owen Davies Single Premiere Series - Part 1
The Cups N Cakes Network is very excited to announce a five part series that will see us premiering a new Owen Davies single every Friday leading up to the release of his upcoming EP, Gravel Dreams. This series is being done as a partnership with Davies himself. As Cups N Cakes shares the new singles on our website, Owen will release the tracks in their entirety on his Instagram and Facebook pages.
For the uninitiated, Owen Davies is a East Coast singer/songwriter that blends elements of folk and country with psych and indie rock. He’s been a favourite of the Cups N Cakes team for years with everything he releases managing to find a spot in our year end coverage. Most recently, we placed his Pasta On The Moon EP in the number 3 position on our “Best EPs of 2021” list.
Today we are excited to announce that Gravel Dreams will arrive on May 6th, Davies shared with us some details surrounding the EP:
“Gravel Dreams is five songs I recorded in my Montreal apartment before selling off most of my things and moving out east last spring. It was recorded a bit frantically. I had to make sure I could fit everything in my little Nissan Micra, so I was selling off most of my instruments and studio equipment but at the same time trying to make sure I had the right takes before selling specific things, which I think resulted in pretty paired down arrangements of these songs.”
