Release Premiere: Ways Lain - As You Lay Sleeping

The Cups N Cakes Network is ecstatic to be delivering an advance premiere of the debut album from Ways Lain, the project from Toronto’s Amelia Izmanki.

Classically trained on piano and violin, as Ways Lain, Izmanki crafts songs with a vast range of dramatic scenes that lend to an entirely cinematic listening experience. This is music that draws you in close. Headphones and a comfy sitting environment are necessary as Izmanki explores unique themes and ideas with symphonic aptitude.

Izmanki’s debut album as Ways Lain is called As You Lay Sleeping and it is set to arrive tomorrow though Vain Mina Records. On this release Izmanki dives into the different ideas that run though our minds as we close our eyes to sleep and eventually begin dreaming. It’s a beautiful journey that explores her nightly ruminations; from a great fear of nothingness, to desire, to remembering a doomed love, to emotional surrender, to ending with acceptance of things ending. Izmanki brings along a couple pals to share the journey with Eliza Niemi providing the cello and Barbara Hankins playing the bass clarinet as Izmanki plays violin, piano, and sings.
