Premiere: Darryl Saves Lives - Forgetting

There has long been a wealth of alternative, hard-core, and pop-punk bands coming out of Edmonton, and Darryl Saves Lives fits right into that lineage by imagining a fusion of all three of those genres. Their sound is the result of four musical minds who first met at MacEwan University: guitarists Cole Gereghty and Nick Lai, drummer David Le, and bassist Neal Smedegaard. The Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to premiere the band’s brand new single “Forgetting”, which will hit streaming service on February 10th, with a single release show at Edmonton’s Starlite Room on February 17th.

“Forgetting” marks their second collaboration with producer Arnel Ethier, after their single from last May, “Fall to Pieces”. The quartet’s intense and upbeat live performance is captured in Ethier’s production, while the melancholic lyrics contrast with the bombastic performance. The band explains:

The lyrics tell a story of realizing that the place you’re in is the place you’re supposed to be, and realizing that true happiness isn’t found in someone else. The story of “Forgetting” is the story of being able to forgive, forget, and move on.

The single will be out on all platforms on February 10th, and if you like what you hear, consider picking up the single on Bandcamp, or grabbing a ticket to the single release show on February 17th.
