Premiere: Eamon McGrath - Sundown in Osaka

We are pleased to be premiering the latest single from Cups N Cakes favourite Eamon McGrath’s 8th LP of 2023, A Dizzying Lust. “Sundown in Osaka” is the second single from the upcoming album, and will available everywhere on March 3rd. The new album was written while on tour for his 2022 album Bells of Hope (which we featured in Tasty Jams in March 2022), and sees Eamon embracing a more stripped down and folk-forward sound.

“Sundown in Osaka” chronicles McGrath’s life as a troubadour; the song takes us through the prairies, the coast, onto airplanes, and into bars with decommissioned cigarette machines. The track features a quilt of layered acoustic guitar tracks, that grow more and more hypnotic over the song’s runtime. Gentle touches of harmonica and a muted piano compliment the guitar during the instrumental sections, while McGrath harmonizes with himself, every syllable awash in reverb.

McGrath will be touring the new record starting on March 25th in Kingsville, Ontario, and A Dizzying Lust will be available on all streaming services on March 31st, 2023. It can be preordered on Bandcamp here.
