Video Premiere: Alix Fernz - "Rouge à lèvres"
Following up on the release of the first couple singles from Alix Fernz’ upcoming album Bizou, the Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to host the exclusive premiere of the music video for his next single “Rouge à lèvres". Bizou, which comes out on April 19th, 2024 via Mothland, is the first studio release from Alexandre Fournier, the singer songwriter and producer behind Alix Fernz.
"Rouge à lèvres" is an absolutely thrilling listen. It’s jagged and unsettled, with an underlying groove that still binds everything together in a way that feels like a ton of fun. The unpredictability of the song is central to its appeal; there’s something about the way that Alix Fernz can swap seemingly at will from the angular, rhythmically complex ideas in the instrumental sections, to more poppy and melodic sections of the song that are built up around the vocal (which, by the way, was recorded on a set of iPhone headphones on the entire album). The arrangement is incredibly dynamic as well, whether it’s the clever variations on an idea every time it repeats, or the way that Alix Fernz plays around with the density of the arrangement to create contrast between the ‘chorus’ and the instrumental sections.
