Video premiere: PRETTY - Food for the Moon
The Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to premiere the new video for “Food for the Moon” from Toronto psych-rock five piece PRETTY. The song channels exactly the type of 70’s psychedelic garage vibe that we love here at Cups N Cakes, and the video reflects that perfectly. Directed by Ashleigh Hutchinson, it features the band playing their instruments, cut, pasted, and duplicated around the frame, and overtop of an out of this world backdrop.
From songwriter Torin Craig:
“The title comes from this phrase I found in a book, something about the moon living off of our emotions, basically farming us in a sense for sustenance - very occult. I can’t remember what book it came from and have been driving myself insane trying to find it again. The song itself was written in the days following a break up, working with the feeling of futility, loss, and emotional torture that comes with that sort of thing. It’s two people who are both dealing with their own things and it gets in the way of them being together - and hey, what does it matter anyways, we’re all just food for the moon in the end."
“Food for the Moon” came out on streaming services on June 2nd, and followed up an earlier single from April, the excellent “Wait for the Sun”. Watch for more new music from PRETTY coming in the Summer, and in the meantime, go pick up a copy of either single on Bandcamp.
