Korea Town Acid, Parler bien, Down With Space, and Taze Kozak

Korea Town Acid – Metamorphsis

From Toronto electronic artist Korea Town Acid comes a hard hitting, bass filled blend of drum & bass, dub, and hip-hop. Despite the spectacular bar spittin’ from the featuring artists, the electronic instrumentals drive the album forward with their texture and style. Try not to nod your head in rhythm. It’s impossible.

Parler bien - histoires du comté d'essex

Here’s something you’ve probably never heard before: conversation excerpts alongside a set of acoustic and electronic instrumentals. This forms the structure of the debut album from Whitehorse music duo Parler bien (French for Talking Well). It’s an experimental gem, laden with unconventional beats and long stringed notes. It’s especially psychedelic if you don’t understand French (like me).

Down With Space – “Homebody”

“Homebody” is the newest single from Montreal based duo Down With Space. With lush instruments and soft singing, “Homebody” is an indie track with existential, thoughtful lyrics about the struggle of leaving the house to experience new things. It’s a song that spoke to me on a personal level, and for anyone feeling the same, it might just speak to you, too.

Taze Kozak – Painted Pistols & Lo-Fi Poetry

Vancouver based Taze Kozak delivers an alt-country album laden with bleak lyrics and deep acoustic instrumentals. Kozak’s deep, raspy vocals accentuate the bone shivering guitar and reverberated drum beat. The album is full of memorable lines, here’s one I found noteworthy:

“You can’t be a poet and a tough guy, too”.
