Danny Bell and His Disappointments, TJ Felix, Elektric Mistress, and Christopher James Vasseur
Danny Bell and His Disappointments - Killing Birds
Opening up with a phrase all-too-known to skateboarders, “Do a kickflip!” This new EP from BC’s Danny Bell and His Disappointments immediately stands out with their use of an accordion. Their serene blend of polka and traditional country makes for a mellow listening experience perfect for a summer's day.
TJ Felix - HONEST INJUN EP
This new release from TJ Felix has an interesting production. Made in a week with pirated software, this EP can best be described as bedroom rock bound in chaos. TJ’s inimitable vocal delivery accompanied by fast paced drums creates a sound akin to horror punk. It even has a bit of spoken word in there, too.
Elektric Mistress - Chapter 99 EP
Taking inspiration from the sound of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd, this Halifax based band uses fantastical morbid imagery with a sound reminiscent of the precursors to heavy metal. Amazing vocals and a catchy composition will have you head bagging the whole way through, even if your hair is as short as mine.
Christopher James Vasseur - Love & Divorce
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Saskatoon’s Christopher James Vasseur creates a deeply personal album that features lyrical themes of catharsis and metamorphosis. With the help of a few friends, his songs are reminiscent of americana folk from its slick riffs, its string sections, and Vasseur’s resonant vocals. It’s a beautiful album that touches the soul.
