Single Premiere: Ultra Mega - "Good Vibrations"

Most people outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba have probably never heard of Ultra Mega, that changes today. The allure and mystique surrounding this band is off the charts. Forming in 2003, they were most active from 2010 - 2014. During that time, they released their first two EPs before fading out of our collective conscience until their debut album finally emerged in 2017. This self-titled affair had actually been finished seven years prior and sat shelved until Winnipeg imprint, Transistor 66, released it on August 14th, 2017. The album was revered by the Cups N Cakes Network which only existed as a radio show and a crude blog at that time. The record made our list of the “Best Albums Of 2017” and the lead off track “Pussy Sweat” ranked #14 on our countdown of the 50 best songs from that year.

All the while the band sat dormant with brief sightings here and there. (An appearance on the Cups N Cakes Compilation was followed by a performance at our 4 Year Anniversary Concert). Then out of nowhere, Ultra Mega toured Canada as the opening act for Holy Void at the end of 2019. On that tour, new songs emerged and today we are very happy to report that a new EP entitled, Money Shot, is slated for release in January, 2021, on Transistor 66.

Alongside the EP announcement, the Cups N Cakes Network is ecstatic to share its first single called “Good Vibrations.” The song comes to us in the form of a Christmas video that features a young Santa Claus heading out to get eggs for his dad, whom he loves very much.
