Toronto singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Trevor Sloan is preparing the release of his new album Green Reflections  on July 24th, 2020. Sloan has been making music for over ten years, originally under the name Phono d’enfant. This new album will be his third release under his given name and was mixed and mastered by the Andy Magoffin (Great Lake Swimmers, The Hidden Cameras). With its release right around the corner, the Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to be able to give you one last single to whet your appetite until Friday.

“Green Summer” is soaked in nostalgia, it has a 60s and 70s aesthetic that was common with singer/songwriters of the time, but Sloan adds his own modern flare to make the song sonically gorgeous. Lyrically, the track is about being young, reckless, and confused. Sloan pulled imagery and memories from his childhood spent growing up in Markham, Ontario.

In regards to the video, Sloan states:

“I made the Green Summer video using footage from the public domain film One Got Fat: Bicycle Safety from 1963. It is a funny and somewhat creepy video with kids riding bikes and wearing monkey masks. I love the vintage quality of the film and it seems to have a green hue, which goes nicely with the name of the song.”

Enjoy the video below and be sure to check out Green Reflections when it gets released this Friday. Find it wherever you stream/purchase music.
