Single Premiere: JP Lancaster - "Feeling Strange"
A few years ago, Kamloops artist JP Lancaster tossed a stone into the proverbial pond that was the city’s music scene. The splash awakened a small city that was primed with artistic talent. The ripples from that stone have spread further and further across Western Canada, so much so, that Kamloops has become a city with a music scene worth watching.
When his previous project, At Mission Dolores, called it a day, Lancaster began working on his solo debut. Today we are pleased to be able to premiere the first song off of his yet-to-be-named LP due out in late 2020. The track is called "Feeling Strange", and it will be available on all major streaming services on August 28th (Pre save for Spotify here).
"Feeling Strange" carries on Lancaster's brand of Cynical Pop, weaving together daily observations with past recollections. A notorious street in Lancaster's neighbourhood, Carson Crescent, has been the site of countless tragedies. The desensitization to crime and violence is juxtaposed against the memory of a lost friend who shares the same name. Life can be both precious and fleeting, and the song speaks to the disorienting feeling of being caught in the middle of the two.
"Feeling Strange" was co-produced by JP Lancaster and Jon Anderson (Andy Shauf, Foxwarren, Aidan Knight) with additional recording provided by James Bethell and features B.C. Interior ex-pats Graham Jones on drums and Jackson J. Gardner on bass.
