Premiere: JP Lancaster - Doors In Floors
JP Lancaster is a Kamloops, BC based artist. His fluid musical styles are a representation of a life lived across BC and in multiple music scenes, from big city to rural community and everything in between. The Cups N Cakes Network has been championing Lancaster for quite some time and we even placed his latest release, Around Town, on our list of the Best Albums of 2021.
Today we are very excited to share the first single from his forthcoming album, Prowl. The release date of the album is yet to be determined but this new song, "Doors In Floors," has us giddy with anticipation. Although not much has been released regarding the new record, Lancaster did tell us that he reunited with the same team from his debut album, Jackson J Gardner (bass) and Graham Jones (drums), with Gardner handling all recording and mixing at his studio "Freedom Liberty".
"Doors In Floors" is a playful and fantastical riff on subjectivity in modern day-to-day life and it arrives today in the form of a music video that was shot and directed by Daljinder Munday. Rather than try and make Kamloops appear to be a big city, Munday chose to focus on the stillness and weirdness of the mid-sized Canadian city.
Enjoy the video below and if you live in interior BC, catch JP Lancaster on June 16th in Kamloops at The Effie Arts Collective supporting Marlaena Moore and on July 2nd in Salmon Arm at Hourspace.
