Premiere: K-Riz - Whatever U Like
Former Edmonton hip-hop mainstay K-Riz said goodbye to his hometown in 2021 around the same time he was releasing his fantastic album, Peace & Love, which Cups N Cakes named a “Pick Of The Week”. Edmontonian’s don’t need to panic too much though as one of their cities most prolific rappers is only three hours south, now residing in Calgary, Alberta. The change of scenery apparently came with a blast of inspiration as K-Riz is announcing his next album, One Way Ticket, will be arriving next spring on Mo Gravy Records.
Today we are very excited to be premiering the first single from the upcoming album. The track is called “Whatever U Like” and it finds K-Riz reuniting with JDats, the producer behind the blissful blend of jazz-infused samples heard on 2020's The Room. Dancefloor-ready beats craft the backbone of a track that sees K-Riz exploring his current state of contentment and openness to exploration.
K-Riz delivered some thoughts on the track:
“Me and JDats started working on this song a few years ago, but when I heard the finished product, it felt like the right sound and feeling for the space I’m currently in. Dance music and different DJs in Calgary have been rubbing off on me and my creative process. I’m exploring and having fun creating. This song is like a celebration.”
