Premiere: Nathaniel Sutton - The Metaphor
Today, we are premiering the latest single from Edmonton based singer/songwriter, composer, and performer Nathaniel Sutton. While delivering mostly folk-based indie rock, you’ll also find splashes of dynamic alt/country, pop and even ambient tones. The Edmonton native is by no means a newcomer to the music scene. He spent several years playing in touring bands, while he honed his recording and production chops on the side. Sutton continues to create deeply personal music with high production values, which he describes as ‘sonic poetry’.
The pandemic was stressful for a number of reasons, and for Nathaniel Sutton, divorce was an added factor to that stress. A long term relationship, such as an eleven year marriage coming to an end, is a difficult situation for anyone to endure, but Nathaniel found comfort in writing music. Keeping with the theme, “The Metaphor” is a song about finding inner peace in difficult situations. The songwriting process “felt almost therapeutic in a way, writing and recording such personal songs” Nathaniel explains.
The single will be released on all streaming platforms on Friday, March 24th, and is available for preorder on Bandcamp here.
