Keeper E., TOPS, Jim Bryson, and Chris Page
Keeper E. - thank u and please don't go
With full beats, powerful synths, and a voice for pop, this new release from Nova Scotia's Keeper E. is seven tracks that defines what makes alternative pop stand out from its mainstream counterpart. Leaving the titular track for last, it acts like a cherry on top of a sundae of amazing music.
TOPS – Empty Seats
Immediately establishing a funky sound, this new five part release from Montreal-based band TOPS is a light sounding release with an impressive vocal delivery, lush rhythm guitar, and groovy bass tracks. Empty Seats provides an eclectic brand of soft rock that's light years ahead of its time and has me jumping back into their earlier work.
Jim Bryson – Country Wifi
From Ottawa, Ontario is Jim Bryson, and a pickup truck stopping a closing garage door is an amazing representation to the sound of his new album, Country Wifi. A delightful blend of classic country and indie folk, this album features darker themes among a playful country sound. A must listen for fans of all things acoustic.
Chris Page – Those Aren't Stars Above Your Head
This ten piece release from Ottawa's Chris Page is a retelling of an album he made with his band Camp Radio back in ye ol' 2006. It takes a more acoustic approach, which drives home the indie folk aesthetic of his solo work. Recorded in isolation, this album feels like an old photo book of memories.
