Thanya Iyer, Grossbuster, Cartoon Lizard, and Elyot
Thanya Iyer - rest
This new five track release from Montreal’s Thanya Iyer is a delightful blend of experimental and pop. Her inspiration coming from the pandemic, this is an amazing follow up to her 2020 album KIND. It’s serene, mellow, and thought provoking - the perfect cocktail for some personal reflection.
Grossbuster - Grossbuster EP
This six track release from Victoria’s Grossbuster features some hard hitting beats, and even harder bars. Featuring artists like Orilla and O.P Yeti, this release has some of the tightest lyrics I’ve ever heard, and his mix of aggression and eloquence makes for a most memorable album.
Cartoon Lizard - For You
This five piece band based out of Victoria takes psychedelic pop and an intricate approach to songwriting to create a single that goes right in the slot between high and low fidelity to create a middle ground of pure amazement. This is a great taste of Cartoon Lizard’s work, and I can’t wait to hear what comes next.
Elyot - Elyot
This self-titled release from Toronto’s Elyot is twelve tracks of electronic folk in a way you’ve never quite heard before. It jumps between the finger-picking structure of folk with an underlying heaviness that peeks out throughout the album. Its electronic songs make for an album that takes you through an experience.
