Woolworm, Smaller Hearts, TJ Felix, and Brutal Youth

Woolworm - Ritual Pass

In April, Woolworm released two singles, and I have become a fan! Their music is hard hitting and aggressive, but then the juxtaposition enters with Giles Roy’s vocal lines which flow with the song’s beat. It’s like driving a monster truck on the clouds - loud and heavy with nil resistance to hold the power back.

Smaller Hearts - Rock and Roll Was Here to Stay

Damn if that album title did not make me think: was Rock and Roll here to stay? Was it shelved and I missed it? Was it abolished by disco, by the 80’s? But surely synth sits in the pocket of rock and roll does it not? Get out of my head SMALLER HEARTS you luscious swelling synth music creators you!!

TJ Felix - I TRIED MAKING MYSELF REPULSIVE SO U WOULDN’T MISS ME WHEN I’M GONE

Remember the days when the intro of a song was longer than four bars? Well, TJ Felix sure as hell does. The intros set a table, providing a menu of sorts of what is to be offered. “Past” …“the needle won’t do the dishes, no matter what drug she uses.” That there is an expensive line!

Brutal Youth - Rebuilding Year

Did you miss what happened on April 21? Toronto’s anthemic punk rock soldiers, Brutal Youth, made it known they are still kicking ass and keeping score! The band released their fast and frantic new album, Rebuilding Year. Come for the hardcore, but stay for the melodic lyrical content.
