Premiere: Roo - While
Self-described emo-bard, Sophie Wonfor returns with a new project called Roo. Under this name she plans to release a three EP series that will be called Blooming, Glooming. The series will arrive through the fantastic Toronto label, Vain Mina and the first of the three EPs is expected to be released in December. Blooming, Glooming follows Wonfor’s Sun-Titled album which arrived at the beginning of 2021.
Today the Cups N Cakes Network is pleased to be premiering the first single from Blooming, Glooming. The track is called “While” and it features the lyric from which the series got its title:
“While the trees were blooming, I was busy glooming.”
Wonfor explains further:
“While, like most of my songs, was written unintentionally, but speaks back to me with great clarity. It asserts that some things dont have seasons, and that our moods and emotions can catch up to us at any time. There is no water-tight container for dreaming, and with glooming the same is too often true. “While” holds both glooming and blooming at once. Everything happens when it needs to, regardless of how many hours of daylight or inches of rainfall. What the seasons do best is encourage us to tune in. This song is about listening to a stirring within … moving beyond our expectations of what we ought to be feeling, and tapping into an agreement with the truth that fuels us.”
