Premiere: Meanlife - "Delete Me"

Under his Meanlife moniker, Toronto musician Jackson Fishauf crafts idiosyncratic guitar pop that he has dubbed “Meanpop.” He’s came on to the scene in 2019 and had released a slew of singles as well as two albums. His songs moves seamlessly between genres, leaning on 60s pop, 90s rock, country twang, and indie rock. A couple weeks ago he released his first single of 2021 called “WTF,” and today we are happy to be able to premiere his second.

The track is called “Delete Me” and it is an acoustic and piano-driven ballad for the modern age. To be deleted online affects people in unimaginable ways. "Ouch, it hurts / to be the one who gets deleted first." It shouldn’t mean anything, but the internet world has now firmly taken over as our “real” world. “Delete Me” analyzes the confused headspace and range of emotions we feel after finding out we’ve been deleted.

Accompanying the single is the first episode of Meanlife's new web series: Behind The Meanness: How To Record Meanpop. The episode highlights Fishauf’s recording process for “Delete Me” and focuses on his thought process while crafting his Meanpop songs.
