Album Premiere: Gloin - All of your anger is actually shame (and I bet that makes you angry)
Toronto based noise rockers Gloin are set to release their sophomore LP All of your anger is actually shame (and I bet that makes you angry) tomorrow, and the Cups N Cakes Network is pleased as punch to host an exclusive stream of the full album one day before its wider release. The album release comes fresh off of an appearance at SXSW, where Rolling Stone named them one of the best acts of the festival.
It’s a dark record, but one that keeps a danceable groove throughout, almost as if to soften the impact of the fuzzed out barbs of noise that surface throughout the tracklisting. As a result, the album is undeniably fun to listen to: even when moments of real chaos and severity bubble up to the surface, the beat keeps bubbling underneath and keeps the toes tapping and hips shaking. Shout-out to “Missed Call”, a 22 second voicemail that sits at track 4 on the album; it’s a hilarious little bit of levity early into the album’s runtime that’s a good approximation of how a liquored up fan talks to a band after they’ve just gotten off stage.
The full album streams everywhere tomorrow, and in the meantime you can listen to Gloin’s All of your anger is actually shame (and I bet that makes you angry) below. The band is playing album launches in Toronto and Montreal on April 26th and May 2nd, respectively.
