Dan Pitt Trio, Crack Cloud, Ora Cogan, and Beams
Dan Pitt Trio - Stages
Dan Pitt Trio pulls no exploratory punches with their latest EP, Stages. It is composition and improvisation at its peak of creativity. There are visual elements placed together, sometimes at a distance, and others occurring in an instant. This is some slick ass jazz!
Crack Cloud - Crackin Up: Live in London
Apparently I have been living under something too obstructive to allow me to have come across Crack Cloud sooner! They have 16.7k followers on Instagram and they follow ZERO! What the hell? And the album was recorded live in London! And the album cover, I want to transport to that concert!! Anyway, these folks are blowing my mind…..
Ora Cogan - Formless
“If I was where I would be, then I'd be where I am not. Here I am, where I must be. Where I would be, I cannot.” That is hands down my lyric of the week! Ora Cogan, in a very unfamiliar way, blends psychedelic with folk. Music needs more unfamiliarity in my opinion, because there, Ora has found exciting new land! Perhaps that is what Formless is all about.
Beams - The Spark in Your Eye
Dancing vocal effects with sensational harmonies that flow as though they are the tides themselves. But, as the juxtaposition would have it, the vocals present as though they had the power to cease the tides. And when Heather and Anna’s vocal trading comes together on “Morning Waits”, with the ominous guitar, Chris Cornell would have paid attention.
